Changeling Theatre was founded in 1997 to produce high quality, entertaining theatre for community audiences across South East England.

Based in Kent, we are very proud of our Kentish roots and are committed to serving local, diverse audiences across the region. We have also toured to venues beyond Kent, including 3 years, to critical acclaim, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

We bring something new and relevant to our productions: new interpretations of Shakespeare, reinvented modern classics, working with new writers and composers to create innovative new theatre.

From Brecht’s Arturo Ui to Lysistrata by Aristophanes, from Gay’s Beggar’s Opera to commissioned new plays such as The Blue Diamond of Azkabar, we offer outstanding theatre to local audiences, performed by an accomplished blend of talented local and professional actors and musicians.

Best known for our hugely successful annual Summer Shakespeare tour, we have staged As You Like It, Merry Wives of Windsor, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Merchant of Venice, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Richard III and this year All’s Well That Ends Well.

“Absolutely knockout…would have made Shakespeare himself laugh with pleasure.”

“I think Shakespeare would have loved it. Well done Changeling, you’ve still got the touch.”

“Acting and atmosphere created a truly magical evening. This show, once again, set a very high standard.”

“Merry Wives of Windsor played out at a gallop by a cast whose clear diction makes sense of Shakespeare’s language…a production of high quality, and an extremely entertaining evening.”

“A great company and the best Merchant [of Venice] I have ever seen.”

“The performance itself was hilarious. You couldn’t help but love the comedy that the actors injected into it. They were all superb.”
