Part of our Summer Tour 2017
The House has been altered so much over the centuries but the property has only been sold twice in the last 450 years. The Gipps’ family bought the estate in 1956. Behind the Georgian façade is a medieval timber frame building. The grounds consist of two walled gardens, woods, lawns to the south and west and a field. The house enjoys stunning views of up to 18 miles into the Lower Weald. Today occasional recitals as well as parties and celebrations are held in the Georgian Music Room. The present Mr and Mrs Gipps are both keen to continue to develop the use of the house and gardens for musical and theatrical purposes.
